TWiSTeD

I don't normally watch news on TV nor do I enjoy reading newspapers but since I'm home and not working, I'm forced to say, the chance is mine.

And what do I get? headache, stress and a dose of a cynical me. This world is crazy and it's super twisted!

a senate that is so busily engaged in wanting to arrest and bring justice to its own country's cheif justice, then forgetting the real issues and problems of Pinas

a president declared to be "Christian" would say yes to same-sex marriage

people killing each other, fighting, accusing, abusing one another

Alright, I am not  a negative person, in fact I've had lots of friends who tell me I have so much postive energy. And really, it's coming from these things I see around me. Something must be done! Something can be done.

Then I met a friend and had a wonderful time making up and clearing issues. Then another "twisted" encounter. How can people be so helpless and remain proud?

Sunday came and i thought my twisted moments were over, sadly just got worst.

I prayed and cried out and then I thought about one thing. It made me smile. Every bad thing just passed out. I felt joy and peace!

No matter how twisted this world might be, I'll remain true because my Jesus is preparing  a place for me .

The thought of heaven healed all my twisted thoughts!!!

Bookfair Diaries

Well, it's over. Today was the last day of OMF Literature i.read summer bookfair and here's something i thought would be really cool to keep along with me in my first bookfair volunteering adventure.

strangers that left marks in my heart

Manong was in his 40s. He visited us on our first day and asked for a cheap Cebuano bible. I showed him one that was worth 145 pesos. He scanned the book and told me he was coming back on the last day. True and thoughtful enough to his words, he surprised me when he came back today. He was all smiles because I remembered his face.
"Nong, paliton na jud nimu karun? Maayu kay nakabalik jud ka." (translation) "So, manong, are you buying your Bible today? It's great that you came back." He shyly nodded and asked if the price can still be lowered. Well, whether it was lowered or not, he was still willing to buy.
After I handed a plastic bag with his new Bible, he told me he was staying in the hospital right beside the mall. I wasn't sure if he worked there or if he was attending to someone else. The only thing I was sure of : I said a prayer for him.

Since Robinsons's Cybergate is beside Chong Hua Hospital, we were expectant to have nurses and doctors browsing and checking our books. And yes, for 5 days, I think I sold more than 10 bibles of different styles, covers and translations. These were some of the proud buyers and owners I encountered:

a woman in her 30s who is leaving for Saudi

A nurse who lost her Bible and needed a replacement

another nurse who wanted  a new Bible

an office worker bought  a present for her Mom on her birthday

a nursing student who was reviewing for her exams

a mother who wanted  a gift for her teenage daughter

lovers who gave Bibles as gifts to each other

a single young professional who wanted a Bible for herself

(there's more stories to tell...)

i.read

books, smiles, friends. This summer, I can't think of anything cooler than that. Yes, today was my first day at the Bookfair. OMF Literature's summer bookfair titled: i.read blasted off today. Whoa! It was a fantastic experience. 9 hours of meeting different kinds of people, standing, smiling and just being my self.

True, books are fun, books are great! Godly books that bring so much life and insight to this weary, dark world. I wanted to try something new and challenging and God has allowed me and brought me to this thing. I have four more days to learn and experience the wonderful work of promoting God through Christian literature for all ages. It's refreshing and encouraging to be a blessing to others.

It's a great opportunity to be assisting and offering timely advice and suggestions to shoppers and book lovers I don't even know. Our love for books and hunger for information, instruction and wisdom seem to connect our very souls.

I am just excited for what else God do in the next four days! Love you God! Pray for more customers, more souls to be fed, refreshed and transformed!

i.read. you.rock!
